Volunteers said they participated in the day because it offered an opportunity to engage with organizations doing service work in local communities and to work with peers in a different setting. I think the best leaders are the ones who lead by example, and on DEAH DAY we are all leading by example through our volunteering involvement,” Smith said. In school, we’re taught leadership skills, technical dentistry and to have a heart, and when we leave the school, we’re expected to be leaders in our community. “DEAH DAY is so important because as a busy dental student, it’s easy to lose sight of all the good you can do in the community. “When I participate in DEAH DAY every year, I feel a sense of belonging and gratitude for the people that I work with every day.”ĭental student Bree Smith, a DEAH DAY committee member, said it was a way for her to do something beyond volunteering. “This service work is important to me because it shows the impact we can have when a group of caring and passionate individuals unite across a community to accomplish a goal,” said organizer and dental student Anjali Mistry.

Pedal lightspeed1/23/2024 ![]() ![]() If you’re looking for a simple overdrive pedal, it doesn’t get much simpler than the Emerson EM-Drive. Whether you want to use the Liquid Sunshine as a standalone drive or to push your amp over the edge, it’ll shine in either application. Of course, being a low gainer, the Liquid Sunshine stacks well with your other pedals, too, either pushing other pedals or being pushed. The Liquid Sunshine wasn’t designed to get that tone, but I hear it in there. ![]() But if you wind it up, you’ll get a hint of tweed-inspired bite that’s warm and really natural sounding. At lower gain, the clarity of the notes is remarkable. And extra control is always good, but what I love most is the range of sounds you can get out of it. The newest version of the Liquid Sunshine pays homage to its predecessors, but was redesigned to add a bit more gain and better control. According to creator Brian Marshall, the Liquid Sunshine “won’t make your amplifier sound like something it’s not-it simply adds a little magic.” The Liquid Sunshine may be in its third iteration, but the idea is and has always been the same: to work with the gear you already use and make it sound more awesome. Turn the knobs and it’s no longer doing that. But a note from Paul Cochrane himself: “The Timmy only has that quality when it’s set to flat boosting. Better yet, set the gain to taste and use it as a standalone drive pedal-that works really well, too.Īs I mentioned, the Timmy has a surprising amount of gain, because most people describe it as a “transparent” overdrive, meaning it doesn’t impart a drastic EQ change when you turn it on. ![]() Or, put it before another drive or a dirty amp to drive the signal harder and tweak the tonal curve. You can run it after a fuzz to cut the flub and add extra volume for leads. Reason being, the Timmy features a unique pair of EQ controls that actually cut the bass and treble frequencies, allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of high and low end for your rig. It actually has more gain than most people give it credit for, but as a low-gain stacker-it’s exceptional. The Timmy may be the “little brother” of creator Paul Cochrane’s original overdrive design, but its straightforward take on the innovative circuit has made it a stalwart of the low gain conversation. If you’re lucky enough to get an amp dialed up to the point that the tubes are sweating a bit and still need some extra saturation, low gain is where it’s at.īut with all the various choices out there right now, finding just the right overdrive pedal for you can be an arduous task-so here’s a quick rundown on a few standouts. With one stomp, you can add a bit of hair to your clean tone, or stack multiple low-gain drives together for increasing gain stages. One look at all the available options on the market today and it seems abundantly clear that modern players like me can’t seem to get enough of them-and why not? Low gain drive pedals can be versatile and valuable tools in almost any pedal arsenal. There’s just something about a touch of grit that works really well with my style.Īnd thank goodness that so many great builders have caught on to the trend. And the longest tenured pedal in my humble collection? You guessed it-a low gain drive. In truth, I’ve had more low-gainers than any other kind of effect. ![]() And that compromise has led me to a deep and profound love for low-gain overdrive pedals. But over time-though they seem inexplicably unable to comprehend that tube amps require a decent amount of volume to sound best-I have learned to compromise. The battle over stage volume is an age-old and yet ever-present war that I wage with most of the sound guys in my life. ![]()

Enqueue dequeue1/23/2024 ![]() The Contains method is used to show that the string 'four' is in the first copy of the queue, after which the Clear method clears the copy and the Count property shows that the queue is empty. The above queue implementation is very simple to demonstrate the underlying algorithm to keep the queue operations at O(1) complexity.Ä«ut you can easily make further improvements. The Queue constructor is used again to create a second copy of the queue containing three null elements at the beginning.![]() Thus the time complexity of these methods is constant time O(1). Regarding the implementation: inside the Queue class the plain object ems keeps the items of the queue by a numerical index. queue() dequeues a head item from the queue, while queue.peek() just peeks the item at the head.įinally, queue.length shows how many items are still in the queue. If the queue is not full, weâll have to increment the value of the Rear index by 1 and place the element at the position of the. In order to insert the element ( enqueue ), we need to check whether the queue is already full i.e. 8 becomes the tail of the queue.Ĭonst queue = new Queue() is how you create an instance of a queue.Ĭalling queue.enqueue(7) method enqueues the item 7 into the queue. At first, we need to initialize the queue by setting Front -1 and Rear -1. There are various ways to modify the code. We did not execute deQueue so you can go on and try it yourself display your array and take a peek after you dequeue and see what happens. peak() prints the value of the front item. display() prints out the items in the array. The enqueue operation in the picture above inserts the item 8 at the tail. enQueue(3) inserts 3 to our queue, similar to the next two lines of code. The enqueued item becomes the tail of the queue. The enqueue operation inserts an item at the tail of the queue. Additionally, you might find it useful to have the peek and length operations. The queue supports 2 main operations: enqueue and dequeue. The traveler who has just entered the queue is at the tail.įrom a higher-point of view, the queue is the data structure that lets you process items, one at a time, in the same order they come in. Recalling the airport example, the traveler at the check-in desk is the head of the queue. However, lists are quite slow for this purpose because inserting or deleting an element at the beginning requires shifting all of the other elements by one, requiring O(n) time. Instead of enqueue() and dequeue(), append() and pop() function is used. Deque) Read Discuss Courses Practice Queue: The queue is an abstract data type or linear data structure from which elements can be inserted at the rear (back) of the queue and elements can be deleted from the front (head) of the queue. The queue is a type of First Input-First Output (FIFO) data structure. This is the real-world example of a queue - and the queue data structure works the same way. Devour devour album art punk1/23/2024 ![]() ![]() Both their albums – 2021’s Mirrors and sophomore release Blossom – have garnered huge praise and, live, there’s not much that can match them, especially when, like tonight, they’re as abrasive as commando crawling across glass with your flies undone. PUPIL SLICER have one of the gnarliest names in heavy music and they stylistically match it to a tee. PUPIL SLICER – Elephant In The Bar Room Pupil Slicer live ArcTanGant 2023. As the last song rolls over, it’s clear this has been a triumph, and hopefully the establishment of a long and happy association between HIPPOTRAKTOR and the festival. The songs off Meridian, their only album to date, have a hypnotic quality to them – frequently driven by tribal drums and subtly repetitive patterns – and like hypnotised, the crowd’s applause grows in volume with every song. The Belgians play a brand of post-metal that renders complex instrumentation through a relentless filter of melodic hooks, which are elevated to epic proportions by the soaring vocals of frontman Stefan de Graef ( PSYCHONAUT ) and guitarist Sander Rom ’s harmonies. HIPPOTRAKTOR ’s midday main stage set last year looms large in the memory as one of 2022’s highlights, and their hotly anticipated return serves as a timely reminder of it. Parallels desktop price1/23/2024 ![]() ![]() Since 2020 Apple has updated all Macs to run on its own Apple Silicon chips: the M1 series and M2 series of chips. There’s also a 14-day trial available so that you can see how Parallels Desktop works before buying the full version.īuy from Parallels In the U.K. The Pro edition, which is mainly aimed at developers, is only available as a subscription, costing $119.99/£99.99 annually, while the Business edition for larger organizations costs $149.99/£119.99 and is only available on annual subscription. It’s nice to see a perpetual license option, so often absent from software these days. It’s also possible to buy the standard edition with a one-time perpetual license costing $129.99/£104.99 (although you’ll have to pay extra for future upgrades). ![]() Larger organizations that buy the Business edition of Parallels Desktop can also use their VMs with corporate management systems such as Hashicorp Packer and Microsoft’s InTune. ![]() That will be particularly important for business users who may have sensitive data on their Windows VMs that they need to keep safe. This provides an additional layer of protection, as it allows you to sign in to your Windows VM using both Touch ID and your personal Microsoft account. Version 19 also brings Touch ID to your Windows virtual machines (VMs). Apple has changed the printing system used in Sonoma, so Parallels Desktop 19 introduces a new Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) that will continue to allow you to print documents from a virtual machine using your normal printer (and Parallels says that this actually provides improved compatibility for features such as two-sided printing on some printers). More serious eye candy also arrives with support for 3D graphics in Windows using OpenGL 4.1, which provides improved compatibility and performance for a number of important graphics and design tools, such as ArcGIS Pro, VectorWorks and VariCAD.īut, as mentioned, there are several under-the-bonnet features that may not be quite so eye-catching. One new feature that will stand out straight away, though, is the redesigned interface, with windows and dialogue boxes in Parallels Desktop 19 now adopting the curved lines and candy colors that Apple has been using in the macOS in recent years. (Macs that still use Intel processors will still be able to use Apple’s Boot Camp to dual-boot, and switch between Windows and the macOS). But times have changed and Apple has now transitioned from Intel to its own M-series chips and left Boot Camp in the past as it is not an option for M-series Macs. When Apple moved to Intel CPUs back in 2006 running Windows on a Mac became easier with the introduction of Apple’s own Boot Camp, which made it simple to run both Windows and macOS natively on a Mac. Or maybe you need to test applications and services on alternative operating systems – the only way you can install macOS alongside Windows is on a Mac, because Apple won’t allow macOS to be installed on anything else. Or perhaps you want to play Windows games on your Mac. Perhaps your employer uses software that’s available only for Windows, or requires the use of a website that relies on some Windows-only technology. For many Mac users, running Windows applications is a necessity. ![]()

Harley chopper wiring diagram1/23/2024 ![]() ![]() Step 18: 2 minutes later, with the help of a grinder and cut-off wheel, the old cross member was out of the way. While overall happy with the frame, the seat cross member was crooked by a full 1/4”. Step 17: One detriment to a repop frame, depending on who makes it and where is that some quality can suffer. Step 16: The final front end all assembled and in place is quite the difference from the stock hydra glide forks and lightens up the entire bike considerably. The frame was then drilled and tapped to accept a small set screw which holds each in place. Step 14 & 15: As the holes for the seat post and tach cable were not going to be used, some aluminum round stock was turned down on the lathe for some stepped blanking plugs. Drilling out the threads on holes you are going to fill ensures that you get the grime and oil out, resulting in a clean weld. Step 13: Stock gauge mounting points were cut off of the top tree, the remainder of the threaded holes welded up and the whole area smoothed on a belt sander. ![]() The hex stock was welded to the front of the neck, and the whole setup will be very subtle once the headlight is installed. The lower tree was drilled, the pins pressed in and welded from the bottom after having some detail added to them on the lathe. Step 11 & 12: Fork stops were needed, and a bit of steel round and hex stock were the solution. Step 10: The final TIG welds with good penetration, and kept just shy of flush to the OD of the stem so the bottom bearing will go on and off with ease. Step 9: Heavy chamfers on each piece ensure good weld penetration, and a V-block is essential for making sure the stem is straight and true. A piece of 1” OD cold rolled steel turned down on the lathe made for a slug, perfect for the job. Step 8: To run the early 1950's Triumph forks on an H-D frame, the Triumph stem needs to be extended by about 1/2”. The key to a project like this is a variety of tools, and remember that power tools are not always the best choice, the file and hacksaw can be your friend. Step 7: Note that the cast lug was also cut off the top of the neck to clean things up a bit. You could also cut small patch pieces and weld them in place if desired instead of using straight filler. Step 6: TIG welding the holes in the neck, though a MIG would work just as well. The holes from the bore for the fork lock are open and exposed and will need to welded shut. Step 5: Grinding and filing away the rough edges, being careful not to bite into the neck more than necessary. Step 4: A variety of tools to smooth out the metal in the tight crevices of the neck were used: pneumatic die grinder, hand files and a Dremel with assorted attachments. Drilled a hole in each corner of the cast area and connected the dots with a jigsaw. Step 3: Windowing the neck seemed like a fun and motivating place to start. Step 2: Started with a repop wishbone frame, cheaper and easier to find than an OG frame. Step 1: I picked up a '59 Harley-Davidson FLH motor, trans and title in a later frame complete with tons of junky bolt on parts. ![]() Tyler Build the Frame for Your Custom Chopper I hope you enjoy watching the build unfold. This build was all done in a tiny one bay workshop behind my house, which was part of the outbuilding where Lowbrow Customs was housed for a number of years. I had Jesse Bassett at The Gasbox rebuild the motor and I was off to a rolling start. I ended up getting a good deal on it, trading the rolling chassis for some carpentry work, and selling off all the rest of the bits and pieces I didn't want. I kept seeing this bike on Craigslist as a titled '59 FLH, though the motor looked roached and it was in a late 60's swingarm frame and festooned with lots of aftermarket reproduction Harley parts loosely bolted in place. I dug this up and figured it was worth sharing, as it shows steps all along the process, from a basket case Panhead bought locally on Craigslist on to the finished chopper which I still enjoy.Īt the time, I had never owned a Harley-Davidson, having a number of Triumph motorcycles, as well as a random assortment of BSA, Yamaha, and other makes over the years. I took these photos and wrote the associated words back in 2011 or so, which ended up as a four-part build article in Hot Bike magazine. ![]()
